Good week in shows 05/25/2010

We've had a wonderful week of shows! Starting Saturday, we visited Solange at her birthday party and had such a fun time! Solange adopted Yucca, the red-footed tortoise, so she has sponsored her care for the year. Yucca will get all her little heart desires including her favorite food, strawberries!

Today we had another great show at Garden City Montessori. The students learned about South America and all the amazing animals that live there. They had been studying the rainforest for a while and we were very impressed with their knowledge. They, of course, enjoyed the animals and met a few that they had never hear of before. Tango and Kemo were a big hit as well as Daisy and Ash. Jade, the legless lizard, had her debut show. She's a little nervous around the big audience but we have high hopes for her and the awesome lesson she can teach. Thank you Bev and Megan we hope to see you and all the kids again next year!

We finish off the week with another birthday party. Another rainforest theme, it should be a lot of fun!

We would like let everyone know how special "adopting" an animal makes the adopter feel. We have witnessed the emotions a child has when they know that they are helping sponsor an animal. They will cherish the Adoption Packet for years to come. Adoption Packets are also a wonderful option for a classroom. The students get to participate in wildlife education and feel a sconnection to really making a difference.

Thank you Holy Spirit Episcopal Church! We had a great time this morning meeting all the kids and letting them get to know the animals. Curly Bird (white-cheeked turaco) had a great time and let everyone know by his boisterous vocalizations. He's getting very old (14 1/2 years) and since he loves big audiences we want him to meet as many people as he can. Tango (Patagonian Cavy) and Zoe (Amazon Parrot) gave great presentations about special adaptations that help them survive.

We hope you had a great party, we sure had a fun time!

We had an amazing visit to Bonner School to teach the kindergarten classes. They were a great audience and we had so much fun letting them meet the animals. Thank you to Dave Alder and his family for inviting us out to Aiden's school! Curly, the white-cheeked turaco, was a big hit as was Gizmo and Nemo, the sugar gliders.

Meanwhile, back at Animal Wonders, we are making huge progress on the second 1/2 of the Animal Compound. It should be fully functional in about 1 month!
