Ray's improvements 07/29/2009
Ray, the rainbow lorikeet has been with us for almost 3 weeks now. He was very fearful of people when he came to us, but is making huge improvements. He can step onto our hand and likes to drink his nectar from a bowl we hold for him. The best thing that's happened is he's eating all his good healthy foods now. He was very picky and wasn't getting a good diet. But now he's eating lorikeet nectar and bird pellets, a variety of fruits, and yesterday he started eating his veggies! Yay Ray! His feathers are also growing in and we're crossing our fingers that he has broken his habit of plucking. We're very proud of this little bird. CommentsWendy 08/20/2009 13:03
I am so glad Ray is getting the love and care he needs. Caution to those who want to get a bird- don't go by what they say at a pet shop, they just want to make a sale. Talk to experts, such as Animal Wonders, for info on proper diet and care for a bird or any animal for that matter. It is unfair to the animal to not know all the important care and dietary needed!
