Chili Pepper's Biography

Picture
Pepper came to Animal Wonders when he was only 4 days old! Now that might seem too young to have a baby leave his mother, but in this case it was to save his life. Pepper was born at a zoo in Nevada called Roos N More where the group of Patagonian cavies live in a large outdoor enclosure. When the babies are born they come out of the burrow the same day and are ready to run around with the adults. There are large birds of prey in the area around Roos N More that will snatch up the vulnerable babies unless they are taken into the safety of indoors. Once safe, they are then hand raised which make them calm and comfortable around humans. Pepper was donated to Animal Wonders so he could become an Animal Ambassador and teach about how amazing Patagonian cavies are! While he's young, Pepper will be learning many new things including, walking on a harness, eating new foods like hay and vegetables, sitting, meeting new people, and relaxing when introduced to a new environment.

Pepper loves to go on walks. Here are a few photos of his many adventures!
