Curly Bird's Biography

Curly Bird was donated to Animal Wonders from America's Teaching Zoo. He loves to have his head groomed. He enjoys it so much he will often fall asleep with bliss. Curly gets his name from a deformity he was born with. His right leg curls up toward his chest making it impossible for him to walk on his right foot. You might think he wouldn't be able to get around but he has found a way. He uses his heel as a sort of crutch and jumps and flies almost anywhere he wants to go. Because of his handicap, he is provided with flat perches and ramps to traverse his enclosure. Most adult turacos don't enjoy being petted but Curly has such a sweet personality he comes running to get his head scratched. Curly is a beloved resident at Animal Wonders.
