Animal Wonders is seeking an Animal Keeper to join our organization’s team! Animal Wonders is seeking a new full-time animal keeper to join the organization's growing team. We are looking for an individual that will fit well with our current team and take on full care responsibilities with our animal residents. The ideal candidate for this position will have: - Be dedicated to quality work and attentive to details. - Have excellent communication skills to effectively share important information about observed animal behavior. - Strive to maintain quality care for the animals and make improvements when possible. - Understand the huge responsibility caring for animals in captivity requires. - Self motivation skills and can work independently or as part of a team. - The desire to improve wherever possible and can accept instruction and correction readily for the goal of providing the animals with high quality care. - Thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with many opportunities to gain new skills.
The duties of the Animal Keeper include: - Preparing diets for the animal residents - measuring, weighing, chopping, mixing, cooking - Feeding the animal residents - Creating enrichment for the animal residents - Administering medications to the animals - Cleaning and maintaining the animal habitats, furniture, and toys - Assisting with veterinary procedures - Training animal ambassadors for husbandry needs and public presentations - Maintaining excellent communication about animal behavior - Documenting animal behavior and keeping detailed records
Full time 40 hours, 5 days per week Salary: $34,000-36,000 depending on experience 1 week paid vacation
Job Requirements: 18+ years old Able to lift 50lbs Able to stand and perform light to medium physical activities for 8 hour shifts Able to work with and around all animal species that create more than normal amounts of dust and dander Able to multitask in a sometimes fast-paced work environment Reliable transportation
