Rook the Raven came to Animal Wonders in July 2014 with a broken wing that had already mended malformed in the wild. He was brought to Wild Skies Raptor Center after being found emaciated on the forest floor and unable to fly away. Wild Skies rehabilitated him and determined he was non-releasable and contacted Animal Wonders in hopes that he could become an education bird and join our Animal Ambassador team. We've been working with Rook for several months to accept human interaction. Since he is wild born he does not take to humans readily so it has been a slow process gaining his trust. He is starting to tolerate our close proximity, taking food from our hands, and even perching on a gloved hand. We're working toward him tolerating being in front of an audience for educational presentations. This little lady is a Southern Three-Banded Armadillo. She was adopted from an armadillo rescue who took her in when she was relinquished from the people who purchased her as a mascot for the Soccer World Cup. She is young and is already a great Ambassador showing off her absolutely amazing adaptations.
