Otis' Personal Biography

Otis came to live at Animal Wonders in the summer of 2023. He was living at an animal facility in Florida and they were having difficulties managing his personality. After escaping from his enclosure, living in the wild for weeks, and then being recaptured, Otis was much less handleable than he had been previously. He had injured his tamandua roommate and also a human keeper and the facility needed to find him a home that had the skill and resources to give Otis what he needed. We were happy to welcome him at Animal Wonders, where so many displaced, unwanted, and discarded animals find sanctuary. Within 3 months, Otis learned to trust his new human friends and he is now cooperatively traveling to public programs to share his story and all about how amazing lesser anteaters are. It's really something special to see this guy in person!
