Resident Wildlife Educator
This is a 5 week program geared to cover all of Montana State Science Standards. One day each week the Resident Wildlife Educators will give the class a 1 hour experience-based presentation with 4 or 5 Animal Ambassadors. At the end of the presentation the class will participate in an educational activity that reinforces the lesson learned. At the end of the 5 weeks, the class will have a comprehensive understanding of the Animal Sciences.
Week 1: Animal Kingdoms - This lesson introduces the students to the idea of the classification system and taxonomy, how we group animals in order to learn more about them.
Week 2:Life Cycles -This lesson explains that just like people, animals in the wild go through "growth" stages in their lives.
Week 3: Adaptations - This lesson explains that since there are so many different environments in the world, over time animals have adapted changes in their physical structure to help them survive in their unique habitats.
Week 4: Energy Use -This lesson introduces students to the fact that every living thing needs energy to stay alive and they are all connected to each other in the web of life.
Week 5: Survival & Environmental Change - This lesson introduces the students to the real fact that some animals that do not change as their environment changes will no longer be able to survive.
