Zeema's Biography
Zeema came to Animal Wonders in late 2018. She was in very poor condition with several serious issues. She had a respiratory infection that needed immediate medical attention as well as a sore on the back of her left leg which was soon after diagnosed as a severely broken bone that had punctured through the skin. She had also had all of her wing feathers cut off so short she couldn't cover her body to stay warm.
Once we got her stable she began to gain strength and over the next year her flight feathers grew back in and she finally learned how to fly! Unfortunately, her previously broken leg came back to cause more issues and she underwent surgery to reform her leg bone to hopefully regain the ability to hop from perch to perch like a healthy toucan should. She is currently in recovery from this surgery and we hope she's back out meeting people and educating about how incredible toucan are!
Back to Birds
