Smaug's Biography
Smaug came to Animal Wonders in July 2015. He his not a rescue, but he is part of our educational programs. We saw the increase in popularity of these small and relatively sensitive reptiles and we wanted to be a part of helping establish good care for them in captivity. We also want to promote captive breeding and eliminate wild caught individuals from being sold in the pet trade. Smaug came in with his mate, Puff who passed away in late 2018.
Smaug mostly likes to be left alone to enjoy his bio-active habitat. Red eyed crocodile skinks are shy and like to stay hidden away. They love eating juicy treats like wax worms and spending time lounging in their pool of water.
